Community Outreach

Sister School

Great Falls Elementary partners with Glen Forest Elementary in a sister school program. Our sister school program is an important community outreach endeavor focused on helping students and families in need from Glen Forest Elementary, a culturally diverse school in Falls Church with a population of approximately 1,100 children from 47 different countries who speak over 39 different languages. Each year, the GFES PTA Sister School Committee, in partnership with our school counselors and Student Council Association (SCA), organizes 2-3 outreach drives to help support the current needs of the Glen Forest students. Annual Sister School Food Drive, Nov 18-22, 2024

THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to the 2024 Sister School Food Drive! Your generous donations helped make a positive difference for local families. We delivered ~2 carloads of non-perishable food to local food-insecure families from Glen Forest Elementary. Thank you for your support!

Special thanks to volunteers Lauren Vogel, Alice Lee, Ms. Murphy, Ms. Mizell, Julie Hobbs and the SCA students for helping support the food drive.

WINTER COAT DRIVE, Oct 21-25, 2024

THANK YOU for the generous donations to our 2024 Winter Coat Drive!   By working together, we donated over 175 coats, hats and gloves to the Embry Rucker Shelter and the Hunter Mill Coat Closet! The winter clothing we collected will help keep children and adults in need in our community warm this winter.  Thank you for the generous donations and support!

Embry Rucker Food Donations

GFES PTA partners with The Embry Rucker Community Shelter in Reston to donate qualifying uneaten food from the Great Falls Elementary school cafeteria. Food is delivered by volunteers weekly. The Embry Rucker Community Shelter is a residential shelter that provides healthy, safe, emergency housing for families and single men and women.
